Porcinkule is a local pilgrimage festival. Franciscans from the Opocno monastery (founded in 1673) begun celebrating this fete at the end of the 17th century. The name comes from Porziuncula, the place where St. Francis started his religious work, around 1200 A.D.
Originally celebrated on August 2nd, now held every year the first Sunday in August.
Nowadays many additional cultural activities join this originally religious feast throughout the preceding week.
